Mount Abu, Rajasthan's only hill station, sits at almost the same distance from Jawai as Udaipur — which makes it a natural add-on if you're doing a hills-and-wildlife combination trip. Here's how to get from Mount Abu to Jawai and what to expect.

Mount Abu to Jawai Distance & Route

Distance: Approximately 120 km.

Travel time: Around 2–2.5 hours by road.

Route: Mount Abu → Abu Road → Pindwara → Jawai. The descent from Mount Abu to Abu Road takes you down the Aravalli hills, after which the drive to Jawai is on flatter highway.

By Train

Abu Road railway station (below Mount Abu) connects onward to Jawai Bandh Railway Station on the same Ahmedabad–Jodhpur line, making train travel a simple, scenic option.

Why Combine Mount Abu & Jawai

Mount Abu offers cool hill-station weather, the Dilwara Jain temples, and boating at Nakki Lake — but it's primarily a sightseeing and relaxation stop. Jawai, just 2–2.5 hours away, adds the wildlife dimension: wild leopards on open granite hills, with none of the crowds of a fenced national park. Travelers doing a Gujarat–Rajasthan road trip often combine the two, since Mount Abu and Jawai sit almost on the same route.

Suggested 3-Day Mount Abu + Jawai Itinerary

  • Day 1: Mount Abu — Dilwara Temples, Nakki Lake, Sunset Point.

  • Day 2: Drive down to Jawai (2–2.5 hrs). Check in and head out for an evening leopard safari.

  • Day 3: Morning safari, Jawai Dam, and a Rabari village walk before departure.

Practical Tips

  • Book ahead: Jawai's camps and resorts are limited, especially in peak season (October–March).

  • Route note: the hill descent from Mount Abu to Abu Road has hairpin bends; comfortable for regular cars but allow extra time.

  • Best time: October to March for peak sightings; Jawai stays open through monsoon too, unlike most Indian wildlife parks.
